2025

Planet Rooted is a design concept created for the inaugural Rooted Festival, an event centering Blackness, queerness, spirituality, and community. I was brought on to explore art direction for the festival’s visual identity.

Rather than creating one static image, I developed a flexible system of graphics inspired by Afrofuturist themes and Art Deco silhouettes. Drawing from artists like Aaron Douglas and Kara Walker, the visuals merge grounded Black cultural aesthetics with speculative world-building. Each graphic stands on its own, yet collectively forms a visual language that imagines a new kind of planet rooted in care, liberation, and growth.

The result is a modular design toolkit that can be adapted across digital and print touchpoints, from flyers to social media campaigns. A visual universe for a world we’re still building.
